Natural Wedding Photographer

Hello and welcome, I hope you enjoy this mini-series of photographs I’ve dubbed “A window into your soul”.

As a natural wedding photographer, I’m constantly looking out for how everybody is interacting & connecting with each other.

My job is to observe first and take pictures second. It’s so easy to get caught up in the whirlwind and keep your face firmly behind the camera.

By stepping back and occasionally lowering the camera you begin to see more of the story.

I look out for hand placement, glances and hugs. Body language is huge when it comes to reading each scene.

Hand Placement

You can read and feel the emotions of others by the way and where they put their hands during a hug or simply reaching out to hold you.

This act of hand placement is letting you know how they feel about you and the emotions they are experiencing.

It might be how Mum holds your arm as you walk past or your grandfather wiping a tear from your cheek.

These sorts of photographs are very powerful as it shows your relationships with others that you hold close to your heart.

As a natural wedding photographer, I want these beautiful scenes to play out naturally allowing me to capture the true feelings.

Hugs are powerful

I don’t know about you but a hug from my wife & kids makes me feel supercharged.

Yes, undoubtedly there’s going to be hugs in abundance just after the wedding ceremony. Each and every wedding guest wants to hug and kiss the newly wedded couple.

Certainly yes, these hugs make beautiful compelling photographs. For me, the hugs that make my heart sing are the ones where nobody else is around.

The emotional hug

My favourite emotional hug time has got to be the reveal. The first time your loved ones get to see you dressed in all your glory moments before you walk down the aisle.

It’s a roller coaster of pure emotion. This has got to be a natural wedding photographer’s paradise.

Tears of joy, faces beaming with excitement and of course plenty of raw emotional hugging.
